A decent night and some action shots

Ok so one of my preferences (ok so it'll be like winning a lottery for me) is when the girls can drop their night feedings / sleep through the night. (then again probably every parent eagerly awaits that) So far they go anywhere between 3-4 hours. However, despite having to get up to feed them, we are lucky that besides feedings they pretty much sleep in-between.

Well last night they ate at 8:30, and stayed up a bit until around 10:15. I had to re-swaddle Audrey a half hour later (they still like to be swaddled and for Audrey especially, it keeps her calm and asleep. If she gets out of her bundle, she tends to startle herself awake. After that I tried to fall asleep on the couch (was giving the hubby some "un-monitored" sleep time since I miss one of the night feedings that he does)

Well all of a sudden it's 1:30 !?!?! I did the first time parent frantic "are they ok / alive?" check and yup, both are just asleep. True it's just a 5 hour break but it felt like much more. About this time Allie finally starts to stir and in a milli-second realizes "Omg, I haven't eaten in 5 hours" so shall we say, got quite vocal in a hurry. Even woke up a very disoriented (tired) hubby from across the house which is a feat I can't usually manage to accomplish. So maybe we're not so far off from that golden all-night snooze.

Another plus - despite their best efforts at avoiding the camera while smiling, we finally got Audrey to cooperate.

Today they both were at a mild-fuss (not the super-fuss we get sometimes) but annoyed enough we decided it would be a good time for a walk. Which, while the girls enjoy their walks usually, it's quite a workout for the stroller-pusher. Our subdivision is pretty much all on a hill (we're at the bottom) so a few times around can be a bit of work - especially for me being on couch-arrest for most of the pregnancy - well we'll say I'm a bit out of shape cardio-wise.

So pre-walk

And success!

(albeit very short-lived as once we got inside the peanut gallery woke up and collectively decided "we're hungry")

Offhand for anyone who happens to like their camera or has any tips - I'm not sure if ours is too limited or I have something set wrong but seems a lot of "action" shots of the girls kicking or what not tend to be awfully blurry so any thoughts on how to fix that or a good camera recommendation, TIA

And we have the little nursery wall letters up finally - compliments of my sister-in-law who used leftover fabric from the crib bumpers. They turned out really well.

All for today -now that they are feed off to find "adult" lunch food.

  1. 5 hours?!! That's great! The twins weren't sleeping through the night until they were about 3 months old and after that we realized they would sleep even longer if we put them to be earlier.

It's tough be a twin mom, that's for sure. Sleeping through the night has a WHOLE different meaning.

  2. They are getting so big - WOW, what a gorgeous smile! 5 hours is great news! Pretty soon, it will stretch longer and longer. We also found Micah slept longer the earlier we put him to bed. He was regularly doing 6-7 hours, and I put him to bed at 8:30 one night (because he was fussing) and he slept until 5:30. I never looked back after that! - Tkeys

  3. Awww...look at how cute they are. I bet you are so ready to have them sleep longer. After a couple of days at home Riley was sleeping at least 4 hours in between some of the night time feedings. Addison is on heart medication that has to be given at certain times, so I really can't change her sleeping pattern quite yet until I figure out her schedule. I hope they start sleeping longer and longer. Great pictures!!! Keep em' coming!
