So I guess I should have started blogging while pregnant (and had 100x more free time than I do now) but oh well.
The quick summary: after a simple suggestion by the hubby "what do you think of having a baby" we had a year or so of trying to conceive and ended up with a little more than we were expecting with the announcement by the doctor of "there's one and the other one" (which I now understand the expression of 'you could hear a pin drop') Not what we were expecting but hey why not just dive right into the deep end. So we're getting to experience first time parenting with twins, and I can say it's been extremely hard and rewarding at the same time. But again I emphasize the tough part, and definitely hectic. So for fun and why not kill all my free time I'll try blogging.
Moving on...............
So in a couple days the girls are two months old - that's insane! It feels like one long day -can't believe we have two whole months behind us. (haha and we haven't completely screwed up yet)
A quick synopsis of our little peanut gallery.
I'll post pictures soon - we don't know for sure if they're identical but for now they look it. If we did not have toenails painted we for sure would have trouble sometimes. Especially considering except for a few differences in personality, they tend to do a lot of the same thing (it's funny - they tend to sleep in the same position sort of thing)
Allie - the first born by two minutes - she's the drama queen. Their pediatrician had mentioned since the girls were smaller at birth (both around 5 pounds) they would be a bit over-sensitive to things. Well that's Allie. She likes to vocalize (nice way to say scream bloody murder) when anything happens - burp / pass gas / fills her diaper....... just very easily upset by her little world changing. But to balance that, as they're both starting to smile, she has a "eyes light up" big smile. So when she's upset, she's really upset, but when happy, she's very happy.
Audrey - milder than her sister - case and point Allie screamed the whole time last doctor visit while being checked out. Audrey didn't mind being examined at all and even grinned a bit. She has, though, been deemed "the party girl" by my brother's girlfriend for her ability / tactic of staying up late (likes to fight falling asleep) She tends to have a sheepish shy smile. She also during the day prefers to be held most of the time. Well they both prefer to be held (duh I'm sure all newborns do) but once Allie goes to sleep, she's asleep. Put her wherever. Audrey has the uncanny ability to pop her eyes open the minute you lay her down. Luckily it's just during the day - they both are really good at sleeping at night besides eating every 3-4 hours.
And to finish off for today: a small rant.
So I understand safety concerns but honestly...... whoever invented childproof caps either never had a newborn or has a wicked sense of humor. Maybe it's just me but I rarely have both hands free and those things drive me nuts. When trying to hold one of the girls and get a childproof cap off, it is a PITA. This has led to spilling gripe water all over the wood floor in the kitchen - nice! Teaches me do not open a bottle within the range of a baby. (Allie's arm hit the bottle)
Well thanks for reading and if I left out any info just ask.
