Ok so a small post before my main one I was going to go today......................
Even with today's technology and everything, things still happen and go wrong - I really feel for all the people (friends / family) who are involved with the plane that, if all indications are right, ended up going down over the ocean. It's just a tragic and awful thing.
It also reminds me how I'm not a huge fan of air travel. I never had a fear of flying so to speak but after one bad flight, that tends to change. Somewhat along the same lines in terms of weather, our plane decided to try to go above some thunderstorms and didn't exactly work. So long story short, we were in a cloud when I guess lightning occurred because the whole outside (windows) glowed for a second. (we thought it was fire) And a downdraft occurred so we fell long enough that for a moment your butt came off the seat and I even started to feel faint. Now I've read up in the air pilots can handle downdrafts fine but as passengers I'm sure most people thought we were going down.
So since then not the world's happiest person on a plane.
Again my thoughts go out to everyone involved - it's just a horrible tragedy. Hopefully they can learn more what happened and maybe technology can be improved to lessen the chance of whatever went wrong happening again.
