Music help

So a dual post today...........

First off - so my more cynical side has reached it's limit for Baby Einstein. Nothing wrong with our little lullabies CD but that's all we've been playing in their nursery for the past week. Not to mention that this particular CD includes a rendition of "Silent Night." At this rate all of us adults are going to go insane by the holidays if we have to listen to Silent Night every half hour.

So with that in mind I figured for fun I'd put a CD together for the girls of "regular" music that would be suitable (i.e. more on the calming / relaxing side) That way they can listen to some actual singing versus all the instrument only CDs we have (baby einstein / a few beatles for baby / the list goes on) Except that I've only come up with about four songs. I tend to listen to more rock and such and my brain is fried as it is lately so I'm not doing so well on my CD task.

Right now I have
The "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" rendition by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole
"I'm Yours" by Jason Mraz
"Hotel California" - Eagles (hey it's a slower song right? :)
"Three Little Birds" -Bob Marley

So if anyone has ones they could add or suggest or else it's going to be a really short CD

So I said dual post above but I'll have to add my second post later - we must be about to hit a feeding time from what I'm hearing out of the nursery.

  1. "Child of Mine" by Carole King is a good one - cool lyrics and calming -
    "Child of mine,
    Child of mine,
Oh yes, sweet darlin', I'm so glad you are a child of mine"
Also, here's a link to a CD Amanda liked a lot when she was little -

Has some really neat songs like "Rock A Little Baby, Rock"
I always thought I'd mainly use "All Through The Night" as a lullaby for Amanda, but "Turn Around" ended up being our biggie -
    "Turn around and you're two,
    Turn around and you're four,
Turn around, and you're a young girl
    Going out of the door"
    Still chokes me up!

  2. Great idea. I actually have a CD with some Enya on it for Micah. I also bought the Rockabye Lullaby CDs . . . U2, Beatles in lullaby format. We love those! - Tkeys
