Two steps forward and one step back

Well the really good news is that the girls can go 7 hours now overnight without a bottle. We did have to run interference (gas issues, re-swaddling) so us adults didn't get to sleep that whole time but at least we know they can go that length. Once they can sleep that entire time we'll be in really good shape. If they could be a little less gassy and not startle so easily but those hopefully will get fixed in time.

The problem is I'm feeling more tired. Not sure if the not sleeping much at all the first month or so just has caught up with me or (and more likely) trying to go back to work (albeit part time) and jumping right back into my pre-pregnancy exercise routine all at the same time was a bit much this past week. I naively figured anything I could do pre-pregnancy shouldn't be a problem now. (wrong) I tried running and of all things my knees were not happy. Guess the pregnancy weight annoyed the joints more than I thought.

Allie seems to have distinct taste-buds. She has been very hard to feed at times for no real reason that we could find. So yesterday we switched formula to see if that would help the gas problem. Well with the formula change so far she's been fine during her bottles. So conclusion - Allie didn't like the taste of formula #1. Least that's what I'm going with.

Well may have to substitute caffeine for sleep this upcoming week. Besides working 2 days, "hopefully" getting an hour in for exercise each day, I have a golf tournament Friday, a much needed practice round tomorrow, my birthday Saturday, and two family functions Sunday. Of course in addition to having 11 week old twins. And hoping to get sleep in there somewhere.

They make it look easy - maybe I need a swing for me.

With that in mind..........off to bed.

  1. 7 hours is great! Pretty soon, they'll be sleeping the whole time. We used to have to get up to fix swaddles and insert the paci, too - such a pain! We got better at doing a tight swaddle, and we kept switching which swaddle was the best for us (we started with the miracle blanket, switched to the kiddopotamus swaddle me, then switched to the halo sleepsack swaddle) - each worked well at different times.

Glad you found a better formula - sometimes you have to switch things up.

Hope you feel better soon - take it easy - you have to ease back into things! I can't believe the girls are already 11 weeks!

  2. Yay for sleeping 7 hours. Around the same age, my twins start sleeping longer stretches.

We eventually figured out that if we put them to bed much earlier they would sleep even longer.

  3. Sleeping 7 hours....you lucky girl. I would kill for that, but I know you aren't getting the full 7 hours of sleep yet. I hope that changes here real soon for you. It is hard to get back into the regular pre-ttc routine. Take it easy and get back to things slowly. I have less than 4 weeks before I go back to work full time and I have no idea how I will make it work. Ugh...
