A bit out of it

Not in the "bloggy" mood lately I guess. Not sure why but either way, haven't posted a whole lot in the past week/s or so. I've started back to work full time, we have two babies who are very vocal about their displeasure during car rides, and a whole boring list of other stuff going on. Needless to say, in my two or so hours of free time at night, lately I've just been relaxing. (take that to mean "doing absolutely nothing")

Tomorrow marks the day we learned that we were having twins. Well that and happy birthday little sister! Bet she didn't think her 24th birthday was so life-changing at the time. Despite the beta numbers, I had figured we had one strong healthy bean. Honestly the twins idea barely crossed my mind. A short visit to our RE changed everything. I still remember afterward sitting at Bread Company, staring at my latte and bagel going "what the heck?" We were stunned. We were also the second "twin" discovery at the RE that day. The first couple was just leaving and were pretty ecstatic. Despite our success and all that had went into it, I needed a bit more time to digest the news. And since due to worry of miscarriage and such we weren't telling anyone, I couldn't express my newfound situation to anyone minus the hubby. Long story (not so) short, wow - that feels like a century ago. A lot of surrealsim to it all as well - just a whole new existence.

On the more amusing side of things: Hubby, with the sad loss of our cat Speedy, decided he would put up some bird feeders. (Back in the day when Speedy was with us, he would chase and attempt to add birds to his daily feeding regimen so hence why we never did.) Anyway, he bought one that the box claimed to be "squirrel proof." Yes we still have that box around with said claim.

You think? Maybe one squirrel proof. Not three. Hubby moved it this weekend so we'll see how well that deters the little pesky guys. They chewed through the plastic which spilled most of the birdseed. At least that didn't affect the birds; they just moved to the ground to find their food.

Of course have to add the girls' pics - they attempted reading. Not so much of course, but the crinkly book entertains them nonetheless. At their last doctor's appointment Audrey especially loved the crinkle noise she could make on the paper so their interest in noisy toys continues.
For pic help, Audrey is in the blue.

  2. I understand the need to take time for yourself. The only time I get to update the blog is from work. Now that is ironic. Once I am home, all bets are off and who knows how the night will go.

I bet it is weird to reflect on the day you found out about the twins. I still remember the shock and we also thought we just had 1 healhy bean.

The girls look great and look very interested in those books.

  3. I love it! Micah loves making all those crinkly noises, too. Time will get easier, and you will definitely feel like they need less and you have more time for you (especially as they start sleeping more, and you can feed them less often each day).

Happy one year anniversary. Amazing to think how much time has flown since then, huh?- Tkeys

  7. Sometimes you just need to take a "blogging" break. Don't force yourself to do it, it won't be any fun then.

GREAT pictures! They are entertained! How great!

  8. Your girls are adorable! How exciting to have twins! My RE thinks I might be having twins in liht of my beta numbers, but I am still convinced that there is only one in there. We will see next week I guess. I look forward to reading more of your blog.

  9. I just came back from a blogging break!! Only mine lasted most the summer (shock!) ... now I'm trying to get back into it because I miss my daily vent or boost - depending. A year ago this time I was about 9 months pregnant and HUGE .. lol.. Now his first birthday is just in a days 9-9-09 ... he's my last baby, I have 4 boys all together, and so I'm very tearful about it all. After having secondary infertility and 13 miscarriage, then have babies who have medical issues, it's no wonder I stop and relish every moment I can. I don't have twins, but I know the feeling ... my 2 yr old is the same size as my 11 month old and a lot of people mistake them for twins. Double stroller, ended up with about two of everything, and clothes come in twos! LOL... So I'm not "part of the club" but I could be..

Anyway - I stopped by from the ICLW links :)
