A bit overdue

So a few people have checked in to see if everything's okay with the absence of a new post in a week or so. Yes we're still here. Between this and that just never found the time to sit down and post something I felt "was worthy" or at least mildly entertaining. Oh and, yes while only Tuesday, it's been a completely crappy week. I swear (haha all the time) if I could just win the lottery......... not that it would solve everything but it certainly would help.

Not going into detail, but realized today that there are people that just have a chip on their shoulder. I've been reminded that for all the good some do, there are others that well, are on the other end of the scale. (Don't ask me to explain what happened - nothing directly related to me but just something that annoyed me)

Ok soapbox aside. The girls are starting to purposefully grab their toys. Still prefer if we sit near them and won't let us get away for very long, but we're getting there. I'll just kiss the days of hot, cooked-from-scratch food goodbye. Wait........I don't cook anyway. Ok so hubby will have to miss those days. The more amusing development is they're starting to be aware of each other. Allie smiles and "talks" to her sister. Audrey, especially if someone is holding Allie, gives her sister the death-stare as to why Mommy or Daddy is holding this other baby and not her. Poor Allie - her sister has it out for her.

In my college days, I took a lot of courses involving language / linguistics which involved a bit on child development. While I'll be more curious when the girls hit the language acquisition stage (just my area of interest) this past week I've watched as they became a bit more aware of things.

They have a particular toy, "Jacques" the peacock, that they recently have started to adore. First toy they grab at on the playmat. Audrey, after grabbing Jacques with her hands (which are still clumsy) all of a sudden decided to try with her feet. Kept him in a strangle hold with her legs for a good while. We notice, though, that Allie has been watching this the whole time.

Well later in the afternoon, we put them back on their playmats, but had switched (Allie on the "Jacques" playmat, Audrey on the other) Allie attempts to grab the toy with her hands, but then, looking straight at Audrey, does the same leg-stranglehold. Now it could be a coincidence, but considering any other toy Allie grabbed with her hands, I just found it interesting that she was mimicking the exact position as her sister. Maybe I'm giving them too much credit. Or in the least we should just buy them more of the peacocks because they ignore most of their other toys.

A few pics and hopefully I'll be in a better mood with more interesting and upbeat post-worthy stuff tomorrow.

Tired out............

Took the girls out to a park on Sunday - they liked it as long as the stroller was moving. Car ride home = not so much.

  1. How neat that they are purposefully grabbing their toys. Our girls haven't taken to that yet. They just kick the toys on the play mat with their feet. It is just so cool to see their development. I can't wait for them to reach more milestones. :)
