A few thoughts

Ok so "boring" post tonight - (foolishly) staying up to watch the All-Star game when I could, and should, be in bed since the girls are asleep. When I'm up too early tomorrow, I'll remind myself not to do this again.

First off, to bring up a thought I had awhile back. A blogger I "follow" mentioned starting a 2nd, private blog for certain gripes and thoughts not to be read by everyone. I, way back whenever, had thought of doing something a bit similar. So depending on feedback, there may be some changes around here. The catch, though, is blogger doesn't do feeds / updates for private blogs. You can email 10 people when it is updated but under the "blogs I follow" it won't show an update.

So for my "online" readers, would you think it a pain to try and follow a non-updated blog? Or, if it turns out I have 10 or less frequent online readers, then the email option works. The 3rd option is to do it in wordpress and having password protected posts. So let me know what you think. This is just to cover all the "bases." I have thoughts more directed to the interest of online readers (like the ALI / IF talk) and there are a few thoughts / things I don't need everyone I personally know knowing. If this offends anyone, it's not meant to and I hope everyone understands. If it turns out to be a big PITA, maybe I won't do it. For online readers who don't comment that often, you can always email me if you'd like to be updated if I end up going that route.

I also think I'm going to start a photo blog for the Friday Shoot Outs and if I find other photo sharing groups. So organized, aren't I?

Moving on to the peanuts currently in slumberland. Lately, when very annoyed, they both utilize this nice high-pitched squeal that just fries my ears. Really hoping it is a phase. Mostly this is reserved for when they're hungry or over-tired and ready to go to sleep. So tonight after a bit of this screeching, the hubby and I finally calmed both of them down by walking them around. Within fifteen minutes or so, they're both asleep with us still holding them. Guess where this is going? Of course we put them in their cribs and ping! Eyes open up. Now they're obviously still tired so for kicks, the hubby and I decide to exit the room. Luckily enough, a bit later (another fifteen minutes or so) the nursery is quiet. Seems if tired enough, they'll fall asleep in the cribs with no assistance. Not too bad. We do have a mobile on Audrey's crib and fish aquarium on Allie's, but those get used more for in the morning when they wake up as entertainment (Audrey likes to chat with her mobile animals - not sure if that would help her fall asleep or keep her up)

Ok bottom of the ninth and while I'm hoping the NL will come back with a win, least this means I'm going to bed soon - yay!

  1. I have a few friends that have private blogs and I do often forget to check for updates but I completelty understand wanting a private blog for other talk. My family reads mine so I have to keep it family friendly when sometimes it is them I want to gripe about. LOL

Let me know what you decide...I would like to follow.

  2. I do sometimes forget to check, but I will still follow even if it goes private.

As for the screaming - that was the toughest thing for us - to figure out how to put Micah down to sleep while he was still awake. The mobile helps us for that - especially at nap time. If he is watching it, he is happy so he forgets to cry. At some point, it will be possible to put them down awake (even happy and talking) and they will eventually go to sleep on their own. I think we all have a tendency to want to rock them to sleep every night. Most of the time I wait until Micah is sleepy so that when I put him down, he immediately rolls over and puts his thumb in his mouth. If he is just really happy and chatty, that can be fine for bedtime, too. The problem is definitely tired and cranky - never a good combo! - Tkeys

  3. We put the babies' light up mobiles on before bed. We did the same with our oldest. Eventually, they will be able to turn the mobile on and play with it when they wake up. The hardest part for us was puttin the babies to bed before falling asleep. If you can accomplish this now, it will be a life saver!

  4. Hey, thanks for visiting! As you can see, I did the switch to wordpress...I like it a lot because of the option to password protect certain posts,

I have nearly 200 posts that I imported, so it is taking a while to go through them all, but really am happy I went with this option!
