Just Another Morning

For a week the girls have gone from about 9 until 5 -5:30 without a bottle. Not too shabby.
Last night they were dead asleep for their 9 bottle and both really didn't care to eat a lot (3 oz maybe?) Hubby and I sort of wonder if they'll be up earlier than usual with such a light feeding.

So forward to earlier this morning (I'm tired as it is since as usual I wake up every few hours regardless if the monitor is nice and quiet)
4:10 - Audrey (well that was determined later) is fussing "hmm maybe I'm hungry now"
(Mommy thinks to herself "crap, we knew it - maybe she'll quiet down though" - naive, wishful thinking)
4:15 - Her sister hears Audrey and decided "ditto" - now we have it in stereo. Monitor is all sorts of fun lights and noise.

Going across the house to their room, I snag my broken toe on the stupid carpet somehow
(I'm a genius)
And yes, do not ask why I still walk around pretty much day and night with a broken, albeit taped toe, barefoot. You'd think I'd learn eventually.

So hubby and I go in and each pick up a baby.
Silence ensues (ok now it's "well if we're going to get held, this isn't so bad")
Now here's the dilemna. They both are sucking on their pacifiers like no tomorrow, but aren't complaining. Hubby and I could just give them their bottles and then we get to go back to bed.
(between 10pm and 6am that is pretty much my main goal)

However they are content enough and really haven't had a 4am bottle so we held them for awhile (tried to lay Audrey back down after 15 minutes but sneaky girl, wouldn't have any of that) I'm of course dying to get away for 5 minutes to retape my now really ticked-off toe, but no such luck.

5:10 - finally Allie decides "yeah this pacificier is useless, I will now take my bottle"
(she has a talent to go from 0-60 in terms of being calm to really bent out of shape and vocal awfully quickly)

Bottle finished, I'm happy and back in bed.
7:45 - Audrey again fussy - lo and behold, pick her up she's happy. Not sure but seems not liking sleeping on her back all of a sudden? Or just likes being held if she's mildly awake?

So now hubby is doing the "hold her until she really figures out it's bottle time" again.
Although Allie did just wake up so he's holding her too, but she's content.

I swore I'd try and give up caffeine - haha........that's funny. First thing I'm doing after the next bottle is finding some of that.

  1. Giving up caffeine with twin newborns?! That would be insane!

Your Allie reminds me of E when he was that little. All smiles to holy hell, plug your ears!

  2. I only had to deal with one, but those nights are rough! They'll get back to sleeping again. I had a hard time guessing when Micah was really ready to drop a feeding - sometimes I got it wrong. Sometimes he'd drop a feeding for weeks, then all of the sudden he'd be up every hour all night eating again. Hope it is improving. - Tkeys
